Best Budget Heat Styling Products

If you have straight hair, you're most likely in awe of ringlets, waves and perms.  If you've got the hair of Merida herself from Brave, then silky straight hair is usually your wish.

There are two products that I've found which have significantly reduced my styling time post-shower.  I have always sought after the clean sleek look which is difficult to achieve.  However, with just these two products, my hair has seen much better days.  Please note, you only need one or the other, not both.

First off, Beauty Protector's Protect and Detangle is a gift from the heavens.  I've mentioned this product before in my July 2017 favorites blogpost.  It works to loosen even the toughest of knots so that you can finger-comb them effortlessly.  Though it may seem pricy, you do not need far more than a few sprays around the head massaged into the roots.  I prefer using this after letting your hair air dry.  Afterwards, you can straighten it for that gorgeous sleek look with not a strand out of place.  On the other hand, you can spray this on wet hair prior to blowdrying it for the same effect.  However, be sure to use a defuser and nozzle if you plan to execute this method. All in all, this relatively affordable product, as not much is needed per use, is worth every penny.  You do not need any more pre or post styling products.

This retails for $23.50 for 8 oz (237 mL).

The second item is the Briogeo Rosarco Blow Dry Heat Perfection Heat Protectant Creme (mouthful of a name).  If you have thick, long, unruly hair like mine then all you need is a two dime sized amounts to work all over the head and into the roots.  Once you've finished your normal blow-drying routine, you'll find your hair is bouncier, lighter, and more voluminous.  The weight of the hair will become obsolete.  Although it may seem pricey,  a little goes a long way so it is worth the investment in the long-run as no other product is needed for the hair.

This retails for $24.00 for 4 oz (118 mL).

In essence, purchasing either one of these items is preferential if you wish to achieve sleek, straight hair easily with little effort.  If you're more into using straighteners then the Protect and Detangle by Beauty Protector is more suitable.  On the other hand, if you wish to use just a blow dryer, the Protectant Creme by Briogeo Rosarco is better for your daily routine.  I'm more likely to invest in the creme as I'm constantly blow drying my hair though not always reaching for my straightener.

If you do find that the results are underwhelming, use a teardrop amount of hair serum or oil (working from the bottom to the top of the head) will help improve the hair's shine and glossy appeal.  I prefer using the old fashioned Parachute coconut oil or Ouai's Rose Body and Hair Oil, though not enough to have an overpowering scent.
